Connecting iPod to your computer

Connect iPod to your computer to transfer music, use iPod as an external hard disk, and charge iPod's battery.

To connect iPod, start up your computer (if it isn't already on), and turn on iPod. Then plug the included Apple FireWire cable into iPod's FireWire port and into the computer's FireWire port.

You must use the Apple 6-pin to 6-pin FireWire cable with iPod. iPod is not compatible with other FireWire cables.
