About the library

The library lists all the songs you imported from audio CDs or downloaded from the Internet. The songs in your library can be stored on an internal or external hard disk, on removable media, or even on a network. By default, songs are stored in MP3 format, a high-quality compressed method of storing music files.

Once a song is added to your library, you can play it, drag it to transfer it to your MP3 player, or drag it to a playlist so you can listen to it later or burn it on a CD. If you connect the Apple iPod and iTunes is set to update it, all selected songs in your library are transferred to iPod automatically.
