Why is iTunes responding slowly?

The iTunes music library can list approximately 32,000 songs. If you have a lot of songs or experience slow performance when switching between windows, you may need to increase the amount of memory assigned to the iTunes application.

In the Finder, select the iTunes application icon, then choose Get Info from the File menu. In the Memory portion of the Get Info window, increase the amount of preferred memory assigned to iTunes.
