Creating your own MP3 CDs

You can use iTunes to create a data CD with the music stored in MP3 format. MP3 is a high-quality, Internet-standard encoding method. Using MP3 format, you can store over 12 hours of music, or about 150 songs, on a CD-R disc. You can play MP3 CDs on other computers or on special consumer CD players.

Choose Preferences from the Edit menu. Click CD Burning, then choose MP3 CD and click OK.

Select the playlist you want to burn to the CD, then click the Burn CD button. Then insert a blank CD-R disc in your Mac and click Burn CD again.

The songs sound as good as they do in iTunes. Songs you download from the Internet may be encoded differently, so their quality may be different.

You need to have Authoring Support software installed to burn your own CDs. Use the Software Update control panel to download the latest version.
