AVIiva v1.00 ReadMe file

Welcome and thanks for giving AIViva a whirl. AVIiva stands for "AVI interactive video application". It runs under Windows 95. It will probably run under Windows NT, but I have not tested it. I hope you like AVIiva and are willing to send in the shareware fee of $10. You have 30 days to evaluate it before making a decision. Information about making payment is in the AVIiva.hlp help file.

To install AVIiva, just double-click on the setup.exe icon and follow the instructions. If you have installed AVIiva previously, then it would be best to uninstall the previous version first. Just open the Add/Remove Programs icon in the Control Panel window and select AVIiva for removal.

AVIiva requires some system files that you most likely already have in your Windows\System directory of your boot drive. These files are:

comctl32.ocx
ctl3d32.dll
mfc40.dll
msvcrt20.dll
msvcrt40.dll
olepro32.dll
vb40032.dll
ven2232.olb

If you are missing any of these files, I have packaged them as a zip file named AVIiva-Runtime.zip. This file can be downloaded from my HomePage, http://fly.hiwaay.net/~rcfinch. Go to my PC Programs page and follow the links. Just unzip the file and copy the files you don't have to your Windows\System directory. (NOTE: WinZip 6.1 makes this process easy since you can selectively extract only the files that you need.)

IMPORTANT NOTE:
There is a problem with at least one version of mfc40.dll (4.0.5277, dated 10/6/95) that causes the pop-up help for the slider and the MCI control to not work. The version I have included in AVIiva-Runtime is a fairly new version, 4.1.6038, dated 2/28/96. It works properly.

Thanks again for trying my program.
