The home of all things retro computing!

Home

Welcome to Bogner Systems, a website about vintage computer hardware, hosted on vintage hardware!

You are currently viewing a site hosted on an IBM RS/6000 43P Model 140, an AIX server from the late '90s.

This site is retro compatible. Feel free to view the site on a vintage system and report your findings in the guestbook! Who needs Javascript anyways...

Site News

10/19/2026: The AIX system crashed overnight, and logs report errors due to NFS mounts. It turns out the Ubuntu server hosting the photos had NFS fail, and it seems that eventually brought down the AIX server hosting the website. Rebooting the Ubuntu server solved the issues with NFS, and the AIX server is back up and serving the site photos again!

10/14/2026: Due to limitations of '90s UNIX and NFS mounts, many images on the site are currently not displaying. Please be patient as I find a workaround for the problem.

9/22/2026: The site went down on September 21st because the main hard drive failed. The system has now been recovered from a March hard drive backup, and the site was recovered from a backup on August 26th. All systems should be back online- please let me know if you notice anything that is still broken. Thanks!

8/26/2026: The site has undergone major updates to be more compatible with vintage machines. Feel free to try it on retro systems and report back in the guest book!

8/26/2026: New Ubuntu server brought online for hosting the archive (Dell PowerEdge T420), link is in the resources section.

Please note:

This site will not be fast, pretty, or even very professional. I edit the site in vi, so don't be surprised if there are speeling erors. You have been warned!

The site is also always under construction, with new material being added on a regular basis, things being rearranged, and formatting being fixed. Please bear with me as I work on a website for the first time.
